People who have sensitive skin often find themselves experiencing various problems that stem from the external environment. Treatment is also difficult since their skin can react to a variety of products aggravating symptoms and prolonging the presence of unwanted breakouts, redness and inflammation. Sensitive skin care focuses on the condition through unique ways and special products.

About Sensitive Skin

Sensitive skin is defined as having thin or finely textured skin leading to heightened skin sensitivity and higher possibility of developing adverse reactions to certain irritants. Different factors such as wind, detergents, rain, sun and cold which usually do not affect people with other skin types can lead to symptoms and conditions. Some medical conditions highly related to sensitive skin are atopic dermatitis and eczema. Dry skin and skin that flushes easily are prone to becoming sensitive.

Some signs that you have sensitive skin include having adverse reaction to certain fabrics, skin care products, fragrances, high stress level, smoke, dust, heat, cold, rain and wind. You may also experience flaky, red or blotchy skin, acne or spots and lines that get worse as you age. Some food products and substances can also lead to skin irritation such as peppers, caffeine, alcohol and peanuts. These can lead to vasodilation, skin itchiness and bumps.

Preventive Measures

Effective sensitive skin care will emphasize preventive approaches to avoid potential threats and health problems. People may develop sensitivity as they age or through genetic predisposition. Sensitive skin products are available which you can quickly apply should your skin start to show signs of irritation. Use products like moisturizers that only contain natural ingredients or bio-ceramides. Chemicals and other additives in cheap commercial items can aggravate irritation.

Limit your exposure to environmental factors that irritate your skin. Wear a wide brim hat or bring an umbrella to stay away from direct sunlight. Wear gloves when doing activities like washing dishes, gardening or playing with pets. Moisturize your skin regularly and use a spray toner to moisten your face if you’re wearing makeup. Stop smoking and limit caffeine and alcohol intake.

When washing your face or taking a bath, dry up by patting with a towel instead of rubbing hard. Men should shave carefully going with the lie of the grain and using moisturizing shaving gel. Avoid scratching your skin and wear clothes made of cotton or cotton blends.

Natural Sensitive Skin Care

Going natural is vital to maintain the integrity of your skin and preventing further damage. Only use sensitive skin products that have naturally extracted ingredients. Stay away from artificial chemicals and fillers. Ceramides are not the same as bio-ceramides. All products you use should contain a moisturizer and do not use those with alcohol since these can lead to dry irritated skin. Do not use products with surfactants, coloring, parabens and perfume.

Wash once a day for your sensitive skin care. Frequent washing will only lead to dry skin and breakouts. There are cosmetic products that cater to people with sensitive skin type as well which are alcohol-free and made from natural non-irritating ingredients. Be sure to wash off makeup immediately as you reach home. Check everything that come in contact with your face such as pillows, sunglasses and hands. These should be very clean and fresh to keep germs and other irritants from transferring.

By: Paula Paulson

African Americans and other ethnic groups possessing dark skin, have some skin care challenges with uneven skin tone. Many black skin care products identify these challenges and target their effect at evening out the troubled skin tone. Having an even-out skin tone element in a black skin care product is a major selling point.

Skin tone comes from melanin, the skin pigment that colors your skin. Light-skinned people may have uneven skin tone because of uneven distribution of melanin under their skin. If the melanin is concentrated you have freckles. Sunshine starts the production of melanin and this may darken your skin color all together.

As well, black skin is not very elastic and this means that it can scar quite easily and be irritated more easily than lighter, more elastic skin. The low elasticity is related to the high pigmentation, which basically makes the skin thicker. What happens is that scarring or irritation can create hyper-pigmentation or darkened skin. Irritation sometimes activates the production of melanin and this creates dark patches on the skin where the irritation occurred. Even the irritation caused by shaving can darken the skin.

If you use the kind of black skin care product that mitigates the assaults that your skin has to cope with, you can prevent a lot of the causes of irregular skin color. There are a number of very effective African American skin care products that are especially designed to oil, protect, and repair black skin. For example, look for creams that have tretinoin because this is particularly good for helping prevent or overcome hyper-pigmentation.

Tretinoin comes from vitamin A. It works as a regulator substance in and helps with the growth and development of bone and helps in the maintenance of epithelium. (This is the technical way it is described – but all this says that this substance is derived from vitamin A and is good for your skin and bones.) If it is used in a face cream that you put on your skin, it treats acne, fine wrinkles, hyper pigmentation, and skin roughness.

The best thing you can do for your skin is make sure that you choose products that are designed specifically for black skin. For African American skin care, seek tretinoin in face creams and products with heavy oil that may penetrate deeply so that it hydrates without leaving the skin oily. It is also a great idea to put on sunscreen because this helps with irregular or hyper pigmentation. On the other hand, black skin care products for your body in many cases have to cope with a totally different problem and that is dry skin that can get a kind of ashy look.

By: Ron King

Skin is the human body’s first line of defense, it is the largest single organ in the entire human body. It protects all the important organs inside our body from harmful and abrasive stuffs outside. Therefore, the skin deserves to be taken care of.

When it comes to skin care, there are differences among women, men and children. Even among women, skin care differs at various stages of women’s lives.

There are many things that contribute to the well-being of a woman’s skin. Nutrition and lifestyle can reflect a woman’s appearance on the outside. Good nutrition and healthy lifestyle will produce healthy skin. A good and healthy looking skin on the outside is generally an indication of a woman’s overall well-being.

On the contrary, poor nutrition and unhealthy lifestyle will generally reflect an overall poor health of a woman’s skin. Bad habits such as smoking, excessive alcohol drinking, consuming of high-fat diets, etc. will also deprive the skin of important nutrients it needs.

In general, women don’t shave their mustache, faces and chins. However, they do shave other parts of their bodies such as legs and armpits, including the sensitive parts. If you have a sensitive skin, extra care should be taken to avoid razor rash, burn or other skin irritation.

For both women and men, healthy lifestyle (good nutrition, regular exercise and rest well) lay the foundation for beautiful and healthy skin. Good nutrition will ensure that your skin receive all the nutrients and vitamins that it needs to maintain and repair itself.

Drinking plenty of water is also important to keep your skin healthy. Water helps to hydrate the skin, transport nutrients through and flush toxins out of your body.

Skin care during pregnancy

Hormonal surge during pregnancy and menopause can cause changes in a woman’s skin; pregnancy can also turn normal skin into oily skin. So, you may have to change your skin care products. Use mild cleanser to wash your face daily, also use exfoliator to clean pores deeply and remove dead skin cells (use exfoliator once or twice a week is sufficient). Continue to moisturize skin, especially around your growing tummy, to reduce chances of developing stretch marks.

Check all your existing skin care products to ensure that they are safe to use during pregnancy. Should you have any concerns, seek advice from your physician and only purchase products which are labeled safe to use during pregnancy.

Use foot lotion to massage your feet every night before going to bed (get your loving husband to do this for you). When going outside the house, don’t forget to use sunscreen to protect your skin from damaging UV rays.

By: Mei Susanti

Beautiful skin often begins inside and radiates outward. All skin care is not created equally. Beautiful skin often begins inside and radiates outward. Women’s skin care differs from that of children and men, and among women, skin care even differs at various stages of life. Poor nutrition, unhealthy lifestyle choices and stress all contribute to the overall poor health of the skin. Bad habits such as smoking and consuming high-fat, high-salt diets deprive the body of the important nutrients skin needs. Women have a tendency to retain water, causing skin to look and feel more bloated. To keep water retention under control, it’s important for women to limit the amount of salt in their diets. Extra care should be taken to avoid further skin irritation, cuts or ingrown hairs. Drink at least the recommended eight cups a day and compensate for alcoholic and caffeinated beverages with more water. Exercise is also a good component to skin care.

Regular workouts keep the skin toned and make the feel good. Dry skin can be sunburned much more easily than skin that retains moisture. Moisturizing the skin on a regular basis can help to keep you from getting a sunburn. There are two effective methods to achieve this. Moisturizing towelettes can moisturize the skin, and are convienient and easy to use. Moisturizing the skin, and avoiding long term, repeated exposure to the sun are two of the best ways to protect the skin. A facial cleanser should be used in the morning and at night, especially to wash off cosmetics and a day’s worth of grime. Dry skin tends to do better with non-soapy cleansers since soap can be even more drying. Oily skin often likes soap. Like moisturizers, there are dozens of cleansers to choose from.

Skin Care Women Tips

1. Cut the lemon and rub the wedge all over your face. Leave it for about 20 minutes, then rinse off with cold water. This will refresh your face.

2. Mix honey, lemon and vegetable oil .This mixture is a good moisturiser for dry skin. Apply this mask for 10 minutes.

3. Apply the mixture of honey and milk on the face.

4. Buttermilk dabbed on skin for 15 minutes will soak up oil from your skin without drying it.

5. Carrot juice applied daily fades blemishes.

6. Mix half teaspoon dried curry leaf powder with multani mitti (fullers earth) and apply on the face.

7. Apply the mixture of tomato juice and honey on the face and neck , wash it after 15 minutes.

8. Apply the mixture of carrot juice and basin. Leave it till it dries and wash the face.

9. Add two teaspoon of tomato juice with 4 teaspoon of curd and apply on the face.

10. Add a pinch of yeast with 2 teaspoon of cabbage juice and apply.

11. Apply the paste of turmeric and curry leaves on the face and wash it after 15 minutes.

12. Apply a mixture of mehndi and turmeric. For a piece of turmeric, 2-3 leaves of mehndi are used

13. Grind betel leaf and add a little coconut oil and apply it on the spots.

14. Apply the mixture of honey, basin, cream of milk and olive oil as a face pack.

15. Apply the paste of fenugreek with milk on the face and let it dry. Wash off with luke warm water.

16. Mix thick curd, turmeric and two drops of oil. Apply on the face.

17. Crush garlic and take the juice and apply it on the face daily to reduce pimples

18. Apply a mixture of turmeric and neem on the face.

19. A mixture of crushed mint leaves and oats will reduce pimples. Leave this for 20 minutes and wash it with warm water.

20. Make a paste with sandal wood and turmeric and apply it on the face.

Life today is very hectic and a polluted environment can wreak havoc on our appearance. Personal care and hygiene, specifically skin care, is undoubtedly extremely important. Obviously, the face is our first impression on others. Thus, it becomes essential to learn about face care to keep it healthy looking.

If you want to have a face rid of blemishes, you must increase the consumption of water. It is our best nourishing agent, as well as a incredible detoxifier. An adult needs to drink eight pints of water every day. This will give your skin radiant properties, and is beneficial for oily or dry skin.

To keep your face clean, always clean with a facial cleanser, preferably one with natural ingredients. Additionally, there are many products on the shelf for exfoliation and cleansing of the face.

If you have problems like dry spots, allergies, or any other ailments, then it becomes important that you get your skin tested to understand facial care and products that can lead to skin irritation.

You must keep in mind that a few top-of-the-line brands, even those containing natural ingredients, may not befit all skin types. So, the advisable thing to do is talk to your dermatologist. He/She can advise you on personal care and hygiene, as well as products that are effective by giving you a simple test, known as a skin patch test.

Through the skin test, you will learn what hypersensitive reactions you respond to, if any, and the types of products that you should buy. You will find a vast collection of face skin care and natural cosmetic products in the world. Using just 2 or 3 effective facial care products is all you need. It may be a good toner, moisturizer or sunscreen.

While using new skin care products, make sure that you listen to the advice of your dermatologist prior to investing in any top-of-the-line scrubs or essential oils.

In the end, having a gorgeous looking face is a dream of everyone. Luckily, it is not impossible to attain when you learn about face skin care, suitable personal care and hygiene, and stick to a complete face skin care regimen.
