If you were to ask any grown adult, man or woman, what his or her biggest skin problem is (or was), you would most likely get a multitude of answers. On the other hand, if you were to ask the adolescent this very question, the answer would overwhelmingly state acne. The skin type of every individual is different, even if they do fall into a general category – oily, dry, combination or sensitive. Likewise, the issues faced by each individual with regards to his or her skin would be just as different.

Acne is a common skin problem that affects the multitude at one point or another in their lives – if not in youth, which is most common, then surely into the early years of adulthood. It can take the form of a pimples, whiteheads, or blackheads. So what causes acne? How come people with oily skin are most easily prone to acne infections that persons with other skin types? Acne is caused by anything which clogs the pores of the skin thereby preventing the natural oils or sebum of the skin glands to be released onto the skin surface.

When the skin’s pores become clogged and sebum has nowhere else to go, it ‘backs up’ until it forms a pimple, blackhead or whitehead. Excessive dirt and oil on the skin can cause excessive pore blockage, which often results in the more severe types of acne disorders. These are different to outbreaks which would simply occur once in a while – if your skin is too oily (due to imbalanced hormone production) then the incidence of acne would always be common.

The person with dry skin is more often prone to other types of skin problems if care is not taken to maintain the moisture balance of the especially dry skin. Dry skins usually lack the ability to produce the necessary oils whose function it is to keep the skin moisturized at all times. So as opposed to the person with oily skin who bears the effects of acne, the person with dry skin is often faced with skin problems which arise due to a complete lack of moisturization. Normally the dry skin would simply take on the texture of rough and dry or scaly skin. In severe conditions however, it would result in skin sensitization, the development of dermatitis or spot rashes, and even other symptoms which can easily be mistaken for skin disorders (such as eczema and psoriasis).

Dry skin requires a careful and thorough moisturizing regime at least twice daily. Not all people with dry skin however are naturally born with lower sebum-secreting glands than normal – most people in fact with dry skin problems develop these over time due to improper skin care. Over exposure to harsh conditions or a complete disregard for the importance of skin moisturization are the key issues which lead to the development of dry skins and the issues that go with dry skin.

By: David Yu

Your skin and especially your face should be treated nicely, and well, treasured. If you take care of your face, wrinkling, lines and other signs of aging can be minimized.

Botanical skin care involves the use of natural, herbal and organic products. Botanical skin care products by their very nature are safe, healthy and effective. What does this mean to you?

Since these products are basically organic they don’t contain preservatives, harmful synthetic chemicals or other unnecessary sometimes unsafe ingredients. Let’s see what we can do to make your face and skin not only beautiful but healthy.

Many people think the idea of botanical skin care is new but in reality has been around and in use for centuries. It is the synthetic chemicals, preservatives and petroleum oil base that is relatively new.

Organic ingredients may include lemon, mint, honey, avocado and many other natural oils. Our skin is constantly under attack from environmental forces such as sun, temperature extremes and wind. The fatty acids that are present in these oils help the cells repair themselves.

Botanical skin care products should never contain preservatives or fragrances. These are very irritating to the skin especially the face. Fragrances should be separate from skin car products. A perfume should be dabbed on to an isolated area of skin unlike products which include a fragrance. Imagine what a drying, irritating perfume concealed in a cream can do when it is rubbed into and all over your face.

The bottom line here is being kind to your skin. Your face is under attack by all the forces of nature and then harmful chemicals are added to the mix. I want you to have the skin and face that you deserve. The idea is to get those unexpected compliments on how good you’re looking. The best comment of all though is, "how young you look today".

Botanical skin care is really all about using natures own gifts to nourish and beautify our skin. Your face will feel invigorated and more toned. Great feeling skin results in a happier and more confident you.

I have completed extensive research into the best botanical skin care products and have made some exciting discoveries. Please visit my site so I can share these surprising results.

Want to look younger by day? Then you should be choosing among the quality night face creams to use. And, when you find one like I have, use it consistently and diligently.

Not only will a night face cream help you look better the very next day, but if you buy the right one, with powerful, natural and scientifically proven ingredients, you can make your skin’s appearance look smoother and softer over the months and years ahead.

Night creams should be rich in emollients and natural oils that don’t clog your pores. Although some of the best creams contain ingredients that sound like they will leave a heavy, greasy feeling on your skin, they shouldn’t.

Lastly, night creams should contain ingredients that can literally turn back the clock by countering the two major causes of skin aging, which are: 1) loss of collagen and elastin as we age (two vital skin proteins) and 2) free radical damage on skin cells (antioxidants that can penetrate into the skin are needed to counter this damage before it occurs).

The following are some of the natural and proven ingredients in the night face cream that I think is one of the best on the market. Some of these substances may also be available in other brands as well.

1) Shea Butter — a natural emollient and moisturizer. As such, it will soften up your skin overnight. With long term use, however, it can also help reduce age spots (brown spots on the skin); help minimize the appearance of scars and blemishes. And it also has a potent ability to fight skin inflammation.

2) Babassu – This incredible and natural substance comes from the Amazon. It has been used there for centuries for skin health. But now science is using it in high quality night face creams to help make the skin velvety-soft and smooth.

It also forms a barrier (not visible) that helps keep dirt and grime out of your skin, which is great especially while you are sleeping since no matter how much you clean your pillow cases, bed sheets, and blankets, there are always going to be a great deal of dirt particles, dust, and other things not visible to the naked eye that can get in your skin.

3) Active Manuka Honey. No, this isn’t like taking regular honey and rubbing into your face. This is a special type of honey that easily absorbs into your skin and is rich in antioxidants that help fight free radical damage before these free radicals do damage to your skin cells. While you sleep, active Manuka honey will soften up your skin

4) Cynergy TK — Get ready, this one is going to sound weird, but it’s one of the most fascinating, cutting edge and clinically proven ingredients you should look for in your night face cream. This natural substance is derived from a special type of New Zealand sheep wool. Sounds crazy, I know.

But studies show Cynergy TK is rich in keratin, which is a vital structural skin protein. Cynergy TK was pioneered by a New Zealand company to be functional keratin, which means it can be readily absorbed into the skin. Studies show it boosts collagen and elastin production in human tested volunteers, and also boosts skin elasticity and moisture levels.

You won’t tend to find these amazing substances in big name brand products. You have to do your research on the niche, elite, skin care companies that are pioneering a new generation of effective night face creams.

On my website, I reveal more of these natural substances.

By: Victoria S.

Have you ever wondered if a quality night face cream should really be part of your skin care practice? Should you really bother adding another product to your routine, at night?

We’ve all heard that a face cream is an important part of a skin care routine. Choose among quality night face creams, find the one you like, consistently use it and it starts helping your skin get back some of its youthful appearance.

By using a night face cream, you’ll not only look better the next day but your skin’s appearance will look healthier if you buy the right one — one with ingredients that are powerful, natural and scientifically proven.

A night cream should contain 3 types of ingredients. The first type of ingredient should be rich in emollients and natural oils. They give your skin a soothing and calming effect and don’t clog your pores…your skin shouldn’t feel greasy. The second, antioxidants that fight free radical damage (on skin cells) and penetrate into the skin.

Lastly, night face creams should also fight the other sign of aging which is the loss of collagen and elastin the two vital skin proteins, so the type of ingredient should boost collagen and elastin production in your skin.

I’ve listed some of the proven natural ingredients that are in a night face cream because the ingredients are so powerful and effective, I think it’s one of the best face creams on the market.

1. Avocado Oil — deeply hydrating and highly compatible to your skin’s own oils; has been scientifically proven to stimulate collagen production and increase the amount of soluble collagen in the dermis of your skin to make it look smoother and younger.

2. Natural Vitamin E — a powerful antioxidant; reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, and helps prevent age spots; can help decrease the effects of more serious skin conditions (psoriasis and erythema); may help reduce the risk of skin cancer.

3. Shea Butter — a natural moisturizer and emollient which softens the skin overnight; helps reduce scars, blemishes and brown spots; smoothes out wrinkles and stretch marks; absorbs rapidly without leaving a greasy feeling.

4. Cynergy TK — you should look for this new exciting, natural, powerful ingredient in your night face cream. Extracted from the wool of New Zealand sheep, it’s been proven (in clinical trials) to stimulate the re-growth of collagen and also elastin.

Because Cynergy TK contains functional keratin (similar to the basic protein found in human skin), a New Zealand company pioneered Cynergy TK and it was shown that it can be readily absorbed into the skin to improve skin moisture retention and skin elasticity.

So, go ahead and read more about these new exciting breakthrough ingredients found in a night face cream product because you’ll want to add it as part of your skin care routine. But, do your research on high-quality skin care products and the companies that are developing new effective night face creams because you’ll tend not to find the incredible ingredients I’ve listed in this article in any big name brand products.

I cover more at my website about the incredible natural ingredients that most people aren’t aware of but can give you a huge edge in looking younger.

By: Marcia Kruger

Before you rush out to buy collagen skin care products, there’s something you need to know: face creams with collagen don’t work.

Shocking? Perhaps. Hard to believe? Yes. In this article I’ll tell you why and give you a much better solution to increasing skin collagen and elastin, the two important protein connective tissues that help the skin maintain its structure and elasticity.

The reason is quite simple. The molecules of these proteins are too big to penetrate the skin. In order to work, they need to penetrate down to the lower skin cells. They can’t do that.

The fact that the versions you’ll find in skin creams are usually derived from bird and cattle sources don’t help much either.

In other words, collagen skin care products truly is a waste of your time and money. But if face creams with collagen cannot provide the answer, what can? After all, the anti aging and anti wrinkle properties of these connective tissues are no myth. Something must be done!

How To Naturally Increase Collagen Connective Tissue In The Skin

Your body is actually pretty good at producing this stuff all by itself. As we grow older however, production decreases. What happens next? The skin loses structure, becomes thinner and starts to wrinkle.

Bottom line: you look old.

So if you can’t supplement it with creams, what do you do?

You get the skin to produce more of it.

Some skin care products now feature ingredients like functional keratin, which has been clinically proven to stimulate the skin to naturally produce more collagen connective tissue, as well as elastin fibres.

The obvious benefit here is clear: your skin gets more of these proteins in the most natural way possible, and exactly where they’re needed most.

Even natural oils like avocado is known for its ability to increase the production of these fibres. Instead of looking for collagen skin care products, find products that can actually make a real difference by increasing the natural production of these critical proteins.

By: Alex Beckman

Probably the most important part of looking good is to take care of your facial skin. Wearing the most perfectly applied make-up will not cover up a poor skin.

Take the time to practice a regular cleansing routine. To clean facial skin use a gentle, fragrance free cleanser, preferably one that is pH balanced. Deodorant soaps shouldn’t be used on your face. They may irritate your skin and eyes or clog your pores.

Dip into your fridge for facial cleansers when your regular cleanser runs out. Buttermilk or yogurt are gentle, natural skin cleansers.

While much time and attention is lavished on the face, the neck area needs as much care and consideration so always include the neck area in your skincare routine.

Moisturizing is a necessity. Again, the product with the least amount of chemical additives is the best. Always use a light moisturizer on your face and neck after cleansing.

Dry Skin – If you suffer from dry skin it’s very likely you’ve tried numerous ‘miracle cure’ products only to discover they were not. You do not necessarily need to buy those expensive creams or lotions to treat the problem, you can often find good solutions by following a few useful tips.

Do not use tap water when cleansing dry skin. The deposits are too drying and never, ever use hot water.

Unless your skin is oily, avoid washing your face with soap as it removes the natural oils protecting the skin.

Nourish and hydrate with Chamomile, Evening Primrose or Aloe Vera.

Massage your face with a nourishing cream every night, paying particular attention to the area surrounding the eyes where tiny lines and crows feet develop.

Refrain from using toner as this can dry out the skin.

Oily Skin – One great advantage of oily skin is that it ages at a slower rate than other skin types.

Cleanse with plenty of warm water and pure or lightly medicated soap to prevent the clogging of pores. (contrary to popular belief, hot water can deprive your skin of much needed moisture). Limit washing your face to two or three times daily as too much stimulation will produce more oil. Rinse your face thoroughly and apply a toner/astringent on the oily areas of your skin by massaging with your fingertips using upward and outward strokes.

Harsh products deprive your skin of natural oils and encourage flakiness. This in turn can lead to a reaction known as reactive seborrhoea, where the oil glands work overtime to compensate for the loss of natural oils. When skin becomes dehydrated it causes the outer layers to shrink and restricts oil flow through the pores leading to blockages and spots.

Use a cleanser that contains benzoil peroxide or salicylic acid and avoid heavy creams.

The skin around your eyes and mouth and on your throat may benefit from a nightly moisturizing, plus a mere touch of moisturizer in the morning.

If your oily skin is scaly, you can often correct the problem by using a deep-cleaning exfoliant on alternate nights, and following the treatment with a light coating of moisturizer.

Try using a clay or mud mask. If you have sensitive skin, use white or rose-coloured clays.

Exfoliate skin regularly with a natural exfoliant such as glycolic acid to remove dead skin cells, balance oil production and reduce the appearance of enlarged pores.

Before applying makeup, use an antiseptic day cream with active ingredients that diminish sebaceous secretions. Look for benzyl peroxide in the list of active ingredients.

Use a light antiseptic night cream from time to time if you wish, and apply a clarifying mask one or two times a week.

By: Jo Rushworth

Looking after your skin is serious business especially as you grow old.
The natural skin mechanism loses its capacity for fast rejuvenation.
You should keep a lot of factors in mind while dealing with skin care routines as they should be based on age, changes and environmental conditions.

Taking care of your skin depends a lot on the types of products that are used.
Before using any new product, it is advisable to use it over a patch and see if there is any allergy or irritation.
Sometimes, some types of skin are more sensitive and get rashes with certain products so it is better to give it a try first.
Usually, organic and herbal products do not cause any allergies or reactions as these products are mild and gentle on the skin.

For better care, few rules should be kept in mind while caring for your skin.

”	Wash; gently apply a cleanser and then a toner, for best results.

”	Apply moisturizers right after a bath or when the skin is damp.

”	Remove al the make up before going to bed so that your cell pores can breathe and do not clog up which later causes acne breakouts.

”	It is best to clean your face or body before applying a moisturizer so that the grime does not form a layer over the skin, preventing the moisturizer to penetrate inside.

”	Using a lot of different types of lotions and reams too frequently is not a good idea either.
Use only as required while washing your face/body too often depletes the natural oils of the skin.

”	Over exfoliating, application of harsh chemical can damage the skin and cause superficial rashes, leading to fatal damage of your skin.

”	Do not break acne pimples by squeezing them as they are a major cause for acne scars.

Herbal face cleansers and other skin care products are good options that lead to a stable routine.
Some herbal products have an active ingredient of natural herbal oils that can actually help in rejuvenating your skin faster and effectively.
These natural oils are better known as essential oils and can be applied after diluting also.

For serious ailments, visit a dermatologist instead of trying different medications on your own.
Nutritious food, ample water intake and organic skin care products are the best way to maintain a healthy, beautiful look without the fear of damage to your skin.

By: Anita R Choudhary
