What is a proper acne control skin care? With so many skin products it is easy to damage your skin instead of helping it. For example, alcohol based cleansers or serious scrubbing will only make your acne worse. Find out how to give your face best acne skin care.

1. Clean your skin with gentle cleansers

Use mild cleansing agent on acne affected skin. Gently rub it in twice a day. If the weather is very hot or you do a lot of exercise makes sure to wash the sweat of your face. Bacteria can accumulate on your face when you are sweating. You can use an astringent cleanser for washing your face. Best cleansers contain benzoyl peroxide, salicylic acid, licochalone, chamomile, aloe vera, feverfew, and niacinamide. Avoid acne cleanser with high alcohol content, they will dry your skin.

Be careful not to overdo it with the cleansing. Using acne cleanser five times a day instead of two won’t help. Actually it can only make your skin more irritated. Scrubbing acne affected skin is also a bad idea; it will only make acne worse.

2. Use exfoliating acne skin care products

Exfoliating means removing dead skin sells from the surface of your skin. Not only these sells make your skin look dull, they are also a good food for bacteria. At home you can use mild exfoliating scrubs about once a week. For a more dramatic effect ask a dermatologist if dermabrasion or a chemical peel can help you to get rid of acne.

3. Simplest rule of acne skin care – no squeezing and pinching

Don’t tease your skin. It might be very tempting to get rid of these terrible whiteheads by squeezing them, but they will only pop up again and look even more awful then before. And it can also leave a scar on your skin.

4. Sun is the enemy of acne affected skin

Sun is damaging for any skin, but it is particularly dangerous when you have acne. First, acne makes your skin more sensitive. Second, most acne medications like cleansers and acne creams make your skin more susceptible to sun damage. Using a sun block cream is not a good idea, most sun screen creams are oil based. So for proper acne skin care stay out of the sun or wear a hat.

5. Shave with care when you have acne

Shaving can be a problem. Whether you use electric razor or a safety razor take extra care when shaving, if you have acne. If you use a safety razor, make sure it is very sharp. It is best to use disposable razors. Soften your beard with water and soap before putting a shaving cream on. It is recommended to use shaving creams for sensitive skin. And, most important, don’t shave very often, because every shaving disturbs your skin and can make blemishes worse.

6. Select make-up carefully

Make-up can help to hide acne and acne scars, but you have to be careful applying it. Only select water based (not oil based) congealers and foundations. Avoid cheap cosmetic, it can damage your skin farther. If you use blush, go for a powder blush instead of a stick blush, it is less likely to clog your pores.

Remove your make up as soon as you get home. Even the best cosmetic is not really good for acne affected skin. It can clog your pores causing more acne breakouts. If you notice that your acne are getting worse, switch to a different brand make up. And don’t use make-up unless absolutely necessary – decorative cosmetic is not a friend for acne skin care.

7. Keep dirty hands off your face

When working in the garden or doing any other dirty work, never touch your face. It can transfer bacteria to your skin and cause an acne breakout.

Stick to these simple rules of best acne skin care. Combined with a good acne treatment or medication they will help you to clean your face of acne and bring back your beautiful skin.

Skin care has always been an important part of the beauty regimen for women, and some men throughout history. The secret formula or tonic (ancient skin care products) for smooth and fare skin was as much sought after many times as riches and glory. Ancient peoples did not need dermatologists, scary cancer statistics, or Stridex to know that they needed to protect their skin.

Perhaps they did not completely understand that the epidermis was, in fact one of their organs, but those societies did comprehend how fragile and vulnerable the skin really was, and that they could not live without it. Skin care was high on the priority list, although mostly because they wanted to be beautiful and keeping the skin in good shape also kept those ladies and gents pretty as peacocks.

They Put What On Their Face?

Skin care definitely did not have the same meaning several hundred years ago as it does today. There were not any doctors solely devoted to skin care and preventing (and healing) any related afflictions. The doctors of that time did still try to heal all. Boils and pimples do not a pretty princess make. Likewise skin care products were very different in composition, appearance, and certainly in packaging.

Some ancient civilizations incorporated many commonplace natural ingredients into their own version of skin care products: witch hazel, rose hip seed oil, aloe vera, beeswax, and chamomile to name a few. Most of those ingredients can be found underneath your bathroom sink and even in your kitchen. Although you may want to do a little research before you just start rubbing yourself down with everything at once. That would be an interesting rash to explain to your family doctor.

Fast Forward To This Century

It is very interesting to see how these older cultures and societies approached skin care in their day. It is said that ancient Greek athletes would apply olive oil and fine sand to protect their skin from being sunburned. That must have made for one grimy shower after the race. Aren’t you glad you have Banana Boat and Coppertone? Who likes that whole “sand in the shorts” feeling anyway?

The allure of natural skin care products is finally taking hold in the modern era, with many of the popular skin care companies making the switch and turning back to Mother Nature for their ingredients. There are also those companies, like CollageneLife Intl that chose from the beginning to only use natural herbs, plants, and other components in making their innovative and very unique skin care products.

CollageneLife Intl believes that the answers to incredible skin care and reversing the aging process lies beneath the surface, as in all the way down to the cells themselves. Their Natural Collagen skin care line and the “first of its kind” collagen capsules Colvita are designed to heal the skin at the cellular level first, and the smoother skin will follow. Their newer natural skin care products from the Beauty of Life line are creams and mud masks made from the exotic and rare minerals found in the Dead Sea. CollageneLife Intl is making waves and stirring excitement with their all natural skin care products.

Skin is the seat of a sense organ. Dry skin has a low level of sebum and can be prone to sensitivity. Steaming is very good for oily skin as it diminishes the external grease and deeply cleanses the clogged pores. Herbs derived from aerial parts. Add 5 drops of lavender oil or oat extract to bath water. After the bath, apply diluted evening primrose oil or aloe vera cream. Do not use very hot water when bathing or showering. Calendula and comfrey have skin-softening properties. They can be used in a facial sauna or to make herbal or floral waters. Used in skin preparations for its astringent and detoxifying properties. A natural diuretic which does not deplete potassium. Tea tree oil has been known to penetrate into the skin’s cellular level.

Add 1 drop of oil to your favorite day or night cream to help moisturize and smooth skin. Blondes can use the tea as a hair rinse also to add shining highlights to the hair. Use in Ointments, Creams, Compresses and Toners for wounds, skin regeneration, skin infections, and inflammatory skin conditions. Used as a Compress, in Lotions and Creams for oily skin, it is supposed to be cleansing, clarifying and emollient and soothes sensitive skins with surface blood capillaries. Borage, fennel, coltsfoot or calendula tea also helps improve the skin. Add 1 tsp. of herbs to 1 cup of boiling water and drink daily. A weekly facial sauna using the herbs chamomile, lavender, and peppermint is good for dry skin. Do not drink soft drinks or eat sugar, chocolate, potato chips, or other junk foods.

Splash the skin alternately with cold and warm water. Used for Oily, spotty skin and for wrinkled, sagging complexions. (Facial Toners, Lotions, Creams); Cleanses, stimulates blood circulation, closes pores and restores elasticity. Yarrow is used for its astringent, healing and soothing effects on the skin and hair. Strengthens skin tone. Melt the lanolin in a small bowl over a pan of hot water. Add the sunflower and almond oils and beat together. Remove from the heat and continue beating as the mixture thickens then stir in the oil of lavender. Use as your herbal astringent tonic after you clean your face each day. Eat well. Avoid white sugar, corn syrup and flour. Drink lots of water. Drinking green tea will also help your skin.

By: Juliet Cohen

Probably the most important part of looking good is to take care of your facial skin. Wearing the most perfectly applied make-up will not cover up a poor skin.

Take the time to practice a regular cleansing routine. To clean facial skin use a gentle, fragrance free cleanser, preferably one that is pH balanced. Deodorant soaps shouldn’t be used on your face. They may irritate your skin and eyes or clog your pores.

Dip into your fridge for facial cleansers when your regular cleanser runs out. Buttermilk or yogurt are gentle, natural skin cleansers.

While much time and attention is lavished on the face, the neck area needs as much care and consideration so always include the neck area in your skincare routine.

Moisturizing is a necessity. Again, the product with the least amount of chemical additives is the best. Always use a light moisturizer on your face and neck after cleansing.

Dry Skin – If you suffer from dry skin it’s very likely you’ve tried numerous ‘miracle cure’ products only to discover they were not. You do not necessarily need to buy those expensive creams or lotions to treat the problem, you can often find good solutions by following a few useful tips.

Do not use tap water when cleansing dry skin. The deposits are too drying and never, ever use hot water.

Unless your skin is oily, avoid washing your face with soap as it removes the natural oils protecting the skin.

Nourish and hydrate with Chamomile, Evening Primrose or Aloe Vera.

Massage your face with a nourishing cream every night, paying particular attention to the area surrounding the eyes where tiny lines and crows feet develop.

Refrain from using toner as this can dry out the skin.

Oily Skin – One great advantage of oily skin is that it ages at a slower rate than other skin types.

Cleanse with plenty of warm water and pure or lightly medicated soap to prevent the clogging of pores. (contrary to popular belief, hot water can deprive your skin of much needed moisture). Limit washing your face to two or three times daily as too much stimulation will produce more oil. Rinse your face thoroughly and apply a toner/astringent on the oily areas of your skin by massaging with your fingertips using upward and outward strokes.

Harsh products deprive your skin of natural oils and encourage flakiness. This in turn can lead to a reaction known as reactive seborrhoea, where the oil glands work overtime to compensate for the loss of natural oils. When skin becomes dehydrated it causes the outer layers to shrink and restricts oil flow through the pores leading to blockages and spots.

Use a cleanser that contains benzoil peroxide or salicylic acid and avoid heavy creams.

The skin around your eyes and mouth and on your throat may benefit from a nightly moisturizing, plus a mere touch of moisturizer in the morning.

If your oily skin is scaly, you can often correct the problem by using a deep-cleaning exfoliant on alternate nights, and following the treatment with a light coating of moisturizer.

Try using a clay or mud mask. If you have sensitive skin, use white or rose-coloured clays.

Exfoliate skin regularly with a natural exfoliant such as glycolic acid to remove dead skin cells, balance oil production and reduce the appearance of enlarged pores.

Before applying makeup, use an antiseptic day cream with active ingredients that diminish sebaceous secretions. Look for benzyl peroxide in the list of active ingredients.

Use a light antiseptic night cream from time to time if you wish, and apply a clarifying mask one or two times a week.

By: Jo Rushworth

Oily skin is not a disease, its just a skin texture that makes you uncomfortable from which you want to get rid of. Due to lack of proper guidance and information on oily skin care available, it has turned into one of the major skin problems resulting into pimples, acne, blackheads and many more.

Several factors are said to be responsible for the aggravation of an oily skin:

CAUSES OF AN OILY SKIN

1. Heredity is quite responsible for an oily skin, but so do hormones. Pregnant women sometimes notice an increase in skin oil with the changes in hormonal activity. So do women going for birth control pills.

2. Stress can also lead in the overdrive of the oil glands.

3. The wrong cosmetics can easily aggravate an otherwise mild case of oily skin.

Some of these causes are within your ability to control, but others you will have to learn to live with.

In most of the cases, oily skin can be treated at home. But sometimes, the situation demands more than just a home remedy. You need to call for a doctor if you develop sever acne or notice notice any sudden change in your skin. Otherwise, go for these tips and try them at home:

TIPS ON OILY SKIN CARE

1. Keep your skin absolutely clean – You might be quite aware of the fact, that oilier the skin, the dirtier it looks and feels. And to get rid of this, keep your skin clean by washing it at least twice a day.

Generally, some doctors recommend you to use detergent-type soaps on your face. As a substitute to it, you can add 1-2 drops of dish washing detergent to your regular soap.

While some doctors condemn the use of detergent-type soaps as they are too harsh for your oily facial skin. Instead they recommend glycerin soaps to be used to clean your face twice a day.

If using a detergent soap irritates your facial skin then try the glycerin soap, easily available over the counter.

2. Give Aloe-Vera a Try – This wonder plant of the household is the best at absorbing skin oils. Slice open a leaf and smear the gel on your face 3 times a day. Let it dry. Or you can also keep a small amount of gel in the refrigerator during the summers for a refreshing face-lift.

3. Wipe with Astringents – Wipe the oily spots on your face by rubbing alcohol or a combination of alcohol and acetone that helps degrease your oily skin. Many drugstores even sell pre-moistened, individually wrapped alcohol wipes that are really portable, you can carry them in your purse for quick touch-ups all day long.

4. Carry Tissue papers with you – Paper facial tissues are the best substitute of astringents as they help soak up excess oils in a pinch. Get those special oil-absorbing tissues from a cosmetic counter that are very in removing excessive oils between cleansings.

5. Rinse your face with cold water – Simply splashing your face with cold water and blotting it dry a couple of times a day is equivalent to applying chemicals to your skin. These cold water rinses remove excessive oils from your face.

6. Say NO to moisturizers – Do not ever go after those tempting advertisements compelling you to buy facial moisturizers for oily skin. These are the fatal temptations taking you to disastrous skin. Instead apply a sunscreen on your face before facing the sun or going outdoors. And yes, do not forget to check the labels for products especially designed for oily skin.

7. Make your own scrub – Make a paste of a small amount of ground almonds with honey and apply as a facial scrub for removing oils and dead skin cells. Now gently massage this paste on your face with a hot washcloth. Finally, rinse with cold water.

Another scrub from oatmeal mixed with aloe vera can prove to be very beneficial for you. Rub gently on your skin and leave on for 15 minutes, Then rinse thoroughly. And if suffering from acne on your face, then you should probably skip the scrub, as it can aggravate your already-irritated skin.

8. Apply Masques on your oily face – Masques prove to be very beneficial in reducing the oiliness. Either Clay masques or you can mix Fuller’s Earth (easily available) with a little water and make a paste. Apply this paste to the face and leave on for about 20 minutes and then rinse off.

9. Go for water-based cosmetics only – Try to make your skin breathe by living without make-up, especially foundation. Using make-up or foundation that are oil-based blocks the pores of your skin thereby resulting in blemishes. And if necessary, then use water-based make-up only, especially spot concealers rather than coating your entire face. In general, prefer stick with powder or gel blushers, and avoid cream foundations as much as possible.

10.
